Chuck Ends and 100th Episodes

THE END OF CHUCK

Friday marked the end of the tv series Chuck. The show was about a nerdy, average guy named Chuck Bartowski who was living with his sister and her boyfriend while working as a "nerd herder" at the Buy More. Think someone in the Geek Squad working at Best Buy. Anyway, he is living a miserable life when one day he recieves an email from a former friend of his who got him expelled from Berkley by framing him for cheating and snagging his then-girlfriend.

The email downloads the Intersect, a top secret government project storing all the government's knowledge on terrorists, criminals, and secret operations, into his brain. The government, suspicious, sends two of its top spies after him: Gruff John Casey played by Adam Baldwin and the beautiful Sarah Walker played by Aussie Yvonne Strahovski. They are tasked to protect him with Casey now employed at the Buy More as a Sales Rep and Sarah Walker pretending to be his girlfriend. Neither really relish this job at first as they both, like their bosses, see Chuck Bartowski as, well, an idiot.

Chuck soon proves how smart and resourcefull he really is and in the process, falls in love with Sarah Walker and she with him.

The show, in part because it was constantly skirting the cancellation line, had some ups and downs in its writings. Especially when they would seemingly resolve the show at the end of a season only to have a last minute reveal showing its not really over and the next season apparently resetting the entire Chuck-Sarah relationship.

But its characters were fun and enjoyable. Chuck Bartowski, portrayed by Zachary Levi (Flynn Ryder in Tangled), made his character very relatable. When he was heartbroken (which in the show's early days, was often) you really felt for poor guy and you cheered for him when he won. He also moved effortlessly from comic foil in the spy scenes to the Straight Man in the Buy More.

Adam Baldwin (Jayne in Firefly) was, well, awesome as the gun-loving, Reagan-loving  NSA Agent John Casey and Yvonne Strahovsky was beautiful with one of the most gorgeous smiles from any actress in the past decade. She went beyond being simply "the hot chick" and gave her character a warmth that made it quite clear why Chuck fell for her and why she could fall for a guy like Chuck.

The rest of the cast is incredibly fun as well. Joshua Gomez was the perfect best friend as Morgan Grimes. Sarah Lancaster was a wonderful as Chuck's sister and Ryan McPartlin gave a Paul Newman aura of utter coolness as her boyfriend, referred to by Chuck as, incidently,"Captain Awesome" because he was just awesome at everything he does. He was so flawless that Chuck simply could not stand him (at least in the first season).

At the Buy More you have Big Mike, played by a fun Mark Christopher Lawrence. But the show-stealers were always Scott Krinsky and Vic Sahay who played the Buy More's two resident wierdoes: Jeffery and Lester. Their show-stealing abilities became even more potent when they became a band: Jeffster!

Oh, and guest stars included Chevy Chase, Linda Hamilton, Timothy Dalton, Carrie Ann-Moss, and Scott Bakula.
All in all, a great show comes to an end.

It will be missed.

Welcome to the Mind of Kit.

The title will probably changed sooner rather than later.

Anyway. The usual issues on the first post are a statement of who I am  and and a statement upon the topics on which I will be blogging.

First: I am Kit from the state of Alabama and am in my early 20s. That is pretty much all you need to know.

Second: A pop culture blog might be best. A grab bag of movies, books, video games, and my eternal love of Doctor Who and Firefly. Religion and politics might crop up as well. Especially when discussing the above four items. Don't expect much on my personal life. You might get some vague sprinklings here and there, but, again, don't expect much.

So, on with the show!

Okay, now how do I get this thing to post.
